Tomorrow I am heading to a very special place. It’s the place that inspired one of my novels. It’s the place where I was born and one of the places where I was raised. I’m headed to my parents’ beach house in La Jolla, California. It used to be my Grandma Marge’s house, and a few years ago it got a make over. It’s been a minute since I’ve been back. In fact, I haven’t been back for a visit since Turnabout Is Fair Cosplay came out.
I hope to eat some red licorice while watching the surfers bob in the swells from the kitchen loveseat. I hope to eat blackberry pancakes at Sugar and Scribe, and then walk to Warwick’s and the contemporary art museum and library and Adelaide’s. I hope to get the world’s best cake, fall asleep while listening to the ocean, and balance my chacras–although I can never remember how exactly that’s done. I also hope to take lots of pictures, lots of videos, but forget about my cluttered inbox, word counts, sales, reviews, and all my half finished projects. In short, I hope for a real vacation for me and mine.
Cheers to summer vacations! And Happy Fourth of July to all who are celebrating. Let’s catch up next month.
